Recovery Stories

Fay’s journey with addiction started before she even graduated from high school. When she became pregnant with her first child, Fay knew it was time to begin her recovery so she could give her daughter a better life.

Before his recovery, DJ experienced homelessness and knew it was time for a change. In his recovery, DJ has graduated from college, owns a home, and found a job he loves. DJ wants you to know: change is possible.

Jessica believes that loss, despair, and disconnection can keep someone from seeking the help they need. She also believes that each and every person has the strength to recover.

Ira, a veteran, began his recovery because he didn’t want to live with guilt and shame each day. He now uses his past challenges to inspire him to live his best life and be fully present for his children.

The Doorway is a free service. It is supported by the Center for Population Health (CPH) at Cheshire Medical Center. CPH is focused on health and wellness education, outreach, and support to individuals, families, worksites, schools, and the community.
